Bless the Lord, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds [benefits] —
He Who forgives all your iniquities [sins]
and heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from the Pit [destruction]
and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,
Who satisfies you with good things,
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 103:1-5
FORGIVENESS
When Jesus saw their faith, He said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven." Luke 5:20
Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." Luke 7:48
This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I [Paul] am the worst. 1 Timothy 1:15
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven through His name. 1 John 2:12
HEALING
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering acute pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed—and He healed them. Matthew 4:23-24
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Jesus, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
"He took on our infirmities and carried our diseases." Matthew 8:16-17
Large crowds came to Him [Jesus], bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and laid them at His feet, and He healed them. Matthew 15:30
Truly, truly, I [Jesus] tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing.
He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12
But Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!"
Taking him by the right hand, Peter helped him up, and at once the man's feet and ankles were made strong.
He sprang to his feet and began to walk.
Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and leaping and praising God. Acts 3:6-8
By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong.
It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing in your presence. Acts 3:16
Crowds also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and all of them were healed. Acts 5:16
I [Paul] will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles [non-Jews] to obedience by word and deed,
by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. Romans 15:18-19
The true marks of an apostle—signs, wonders, and miracles—were performed among you with great perseverance. 2 Corinthians 12:2
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
REDEMPTION
The third benefit of His 5-in-1 salvation is to redeem our lives from the Pit or destruction. Psalm 103:4
Believers have redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ's blood shed for them, Luke 22:20 which primarily is forgiveness of their sins. Colossians 1:14
But because the benefit of redemption from the Pit or destruction Psalm 103:4 is different from forgiveness and healing, Psalm 103:3 here we look at this as a RESCUE.
Soon a violent windstorm came up, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was being swamped.
But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion.
So they woke Him and said,
"Teacher, don't You care that we are perishing?"
Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea.
"Silence!" He commanded.
"Be still!" And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm. Mark 4:37-39
Paul wrote that he was put in prison, beaten, whipped, stoned, and frequently in danger of death and robbery, shipwrecked 3 times, 2 Corinthians 11:23-26 and "in hunger and thirst and often without food, in cold and exposure." 2 Corinthians 11:27
But he wrote later that he was an old man. Philemon v.9
Why?
Rescued by the Lord's kind deliverance.
He [God the Father] has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us.
In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us. 2 Corinthians 1:10
When Paul knew that his departure to heaven 2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:21-24 was to happen soon, 2 Timothy 4:6 he wrote,
At my first defense, no one stood with me, but everyone deserted me.
May it not be charged against them.
But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed, and all the Gentiles [non-Jews] would hear it.
So I was delivered from the mouth of the lion.
And the Lord will rescue me from every evil action and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom.
To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. 2 Timothy 4:16-18
For believers there's also a spiritual POSITION of having already been rescued.
He [God the Father] has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son [Jesus]. Colossians 1:13
CROWNS with LOVING DEVOTION and COMPASSION
What's interesting is that this benefit is after you get rescued and the Lord in the next breath of kindness does this:
and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion. Psalm 103:4
Do you put on the helmet of salvation Ephesians 6:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:8 because of your relationship with the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ? John 14:15; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 6:24; 1 John 1:3
On top of the helmet, He crowns His children with devoted love and compassionate mercy.
RENEWED YOUTH
Sometimes celebrities will advertise products.
They're chosen to get us to think that if we buy these, we'll also look like them with beautiful faces and bodies.
For those who aren't stars, some are shocked when they have a birthday and well-wishers find out how old they are. (If they're telling the truth!)
They look younger than their age.
What's their secret?
One told me,
"Forgive and let things go."
Another announced with joy,
"Clean livin' and the Lord."
This fifth benefit of 5-in-1 salvation involves Him satisfying our life [or mouth] with good things. Psalm 103:5
What are some of these GOOD THINGS? Matthew 7:11
His goodness and mercy. Psalm 23:6
How about His word? His word is truth. John 15:7; 17:17
The Holy Spirit. Luke 11:13; John 14:26; 16:13-14
If you love Me [Jesus], you will keep My commandments.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth.
The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.
But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17
More grace [His undeserved and unearned favor] when we need it. James 4:6
Multiplied mercy, peace, and love. Jude v.2
Yes, "5-in-1 Benefits, Advanced Care Salvation" — almost too good to be true but it is because He is wonderful.
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son [Jesus] to be the Savior of the world. 1 John 4:14
