And He [Jesus] said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it." Luke 17:22

There was preaching, teaching, and healing. Matthew 9:35

There was being moved with compassion to heal the sick Matthew 14:14; Mark 1:41; Luke 7:12-16 and feed multitudes. Mark 8:1-3, 6-9

There was prayer. Luke 3:21-22; 6:12; 11:1; John 11:41-42; 12:28; 17:1-26

Jesus said, "We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world." John 9:4-5

How can we as spiritual people walk in His steps? 1 Peter 2:21; 1 John 2:6

Do we dare examine ourselves to see that we're in the faith? 2 Corinthians 13:5

Do we dare check to see that we honor the broken body and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ for us? 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Do we dare look into the mirror of His word to compare our lifestyles to these standards? Matthew 7:24-27; James 1:19-25

Do we dare say, "I live worthy of the Lord Colossians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:12 and expect to be counted worthy to escape all the future sorrows coming upon this world"? Matthew 24:8; Luke 21:36; Revelation 3:10

You may be thinking, "Wow. Sounds like the New Testament of the Bible wants believers to take responsibility for their spiritual lives." Philippians 2:12-16; 2 Peter 1:5-11

There's a Bible verse that may help us to remember the divine favor of God the Father and His love for the whole world (including us) when He provided salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ, John 3:16-17 by His grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8-10

However, we can also remember that James wrote to Christians that they should stop being sinful.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:3-4

Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. James 4:8-9

Sort of harsh, right?

James also wrote this --

But He [the Lord] gives more grace [unearned and undeserved favor]. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

So, we can humble ourselves under His mighty hand and He will exalt us in due time. 1 Peter 5:6

We may not see it now and find it hard to believe that it could be true.

But someday we might get a breakthrough Romans 16:20 as we draw near to the Father. James 4:7-8

This could mean that we may have days in which we look like the Lord Jesus Christ, dressed in His humility Matthew 11:28-30; 2 Corinthians 10:1; 1 Peter 5:5 and spiritual armor. Ephesians 6:11-13

Truly, truly I [Jesus] say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father. John 14:12

Your thoughts?
