A wolf is anyone or anything that's hungry and we're the next meal!

A wolf comes to our door to only steal, kill, and destroy. Matthew 13:28; John 10:10

Sometimes the door is an actual door.

Someone who could harm you is outside your door and wants to get in.

What kind of harm?

Violence against your body and finances if they attack you in an invasion and rob your material possessions.

Violence against your soul if a wolf is allowed to enter and tempts you to sin. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; 1 Peter 2:11

We have to ignore their threats or sweet talk.

Keep the door closed!

MENTAL and EMOTIONAL DOORS

At other times, the door isn't a physical door but a mental or emotional one.

You may have heard or read the phrase, "The battle is between our ears."

One of the meanings is that the war to win over negative thoughts and feelings is fought in our brains or our minds, if you prefer.

Peter wrote, Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how God will treat you with undeserved grace when Jesus Christ appears. 1 Peter 1:13

Peter later cautioned, Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. 1 Peter 5:8

Paul wrote, Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to Him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That's the most sensible way to serve God. Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to Him. Romans 12:1-2

Paul also advised believers to be renewed in the spirit of their mind. Ephesians 4:23

It may be true that we're willingly and unwillingly exposed to messages that sometimes DON'T make us stronger spiritually.

What we choose to view, read, and listen to and advertisements and songs played in stores and offices that we can't control, can affect us.

Paul wrote, All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. 1 Corinthians 10:23

CLOSE THE DOOR

So, we want to keep the door closed to any wolves.

But how?

Maybe we need to admit that we can't do it alone.

Paul wrote, We must no longer let our weak and broken human ways guide us, for that path led us only to death. But if we let the Spirit put to death these broken ways, we will share in His life. Romans 8:13

Maybe a prayer for help could be --

"Father, I humble myself under Your mighty hand. Please give me Your undeserved and unearned favor so that I can be lifted up to have strength and wisdom to shut the door to wolves." James 4:6, 10; 1 Peter 5:5-7

We may want to think about our favorite things, people, and companion animals that make us feel happy. Philippians 4:8

We can also do holy activities that bring us joy. John 13:12-17; Colossians 3:17

WAITING AT THE DOOR

Other than a wolf at your door, who is also there?

So Jesus said to them again, "Truly, truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep." John 10:7

"I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." John 10:9

Jesus also said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20

The Savior is always at the door of our hearts.

Let's let Him in.

Your thoughts?
