Admitting: "I didn't know that."

Is this an indication of us being spiritual?

It's obvious that none of us knows everything, right?

Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. 1 Corinthians 8:2

For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 1 Corinthians 13:9

There are times when we get a little knowledge about something, but then it goes to our head and we believe we know more than we actually do. 1 Corinthians 8:1

A problem with this is others may get the impression that we think we're "know-it-alls" and they dislike that.

Others may acknowledge some gifts and talents in us and appreciate these.

Our part can be to understand from Whom these abilities come --

To this John [the Baptist] replied, "A person can receive only what is given them from heaven." John 3:27

For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not? 1 Corinthians 4:7

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, Who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

So, to admit, "I didn't know that," even in the presence of those who believe we do know a lot might be a sign of spiritual maturity.

And then we might say to the one who told us something that we didn't know,

"Thank you for educating me on this."

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." 1 Peter 5:5

Your thoughts?
