Can you fill in the blanks?

Are you a cultural whatever religious or spiritual name you identify with?

Or are you a real whatever religious or spiritual name you identify with?

If we're honest with ourselves, we do NOT know the difference.

On some forms such as hospital medical forms, it will ask or someone interviewing us will say, "What religion are you?"

Sometimes there are checkboxes so it's easy to select even if it's the checkbox None or Other.

In case of a life or death situation, the hospital wants to know what kind of minister should be called to come.

Maybe we're devoted to our brand of religion or spirituality.

We might consider that we're real.

On the other hand, if we've been raised in a certain belief system but NOT committed because we lack a personal relationship with the source of this, others may think that we're only "cultural believers" -- that we believe this due to what our family has believed or the majority in our part of the world follow.

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:5

Which would be better?

A real something or a cultural something?

And the Father Himself, Who has sent Me [Jesus], has borne witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape. And you have not His word abiding in you: for Whom He has sent, Him you believe not. John 5:37-38

But I [Jesus] know you, that you have not the love of God in you. John 5:42

How can we go from cultural to real?

Human life comes from human parents, but spiritual life comes from the Spirit. Don’t be surprised when I [Jesus] tell you, "You must all be born again." John 3:6-7

God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son [Jesus] so that whoever believes in Him may not be lost, but have eternal life. God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through Him. John 3:16-17

The Son of Man [Jesus] came to find lost people and save them. Luke 19:10

Your thoughts?
