Don't be violent toward anyone?

If we're spiritual, does this include that we won't willingly want to hurt in any realm?

For examples, we wouldn't want to harm someone physically, emotionally, financially, mentally, or spiritually.

But what about in self-defense?

Even if we believe that we're defending our bodies or someone else's, sometimes in self-defense we can move over into being the offender and not the victim if we get the upper hand in a fight.

Similarly, in these other areas, should we be careful NOT to inflict damage even if we think that we're defending truth in doctrine or living by its principles?

Your thoughts?
