He must increase

Most of us spend our lives trying to increase.
Don't we usually want more money, recognition, power, friends, possessions, and other things we think are valuable?
We may accept that if we get more, this will prove our worth.
In the New Testament of the Bible, John the Baptist was quoted as saying, "He [Jesus] must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
Should spiritual people look at their lives differently from how others typically do?
If so, could they desire as John the Baptist did, that Jesus must increase in their lives and that their personalities and lifestyles must become less important?
Paul wrote that believers were NOT to be conformed to the world's ways but transformed by the renewing of their minds. Romans 12:2
So, if our ways conform to the world's ways, which are the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life, 1 John 2:16 and this has been normal for us, what then?
Maybe we might consider that a transformation is needed when we renew our minds.
One part of the mind that can be renewed is the thought that Jesus must increase and we must decrease.
Worthy goal?
This is in contrast to some who loved to have the first and highest places. Matthew 23:5-7; 3 John v.9
Jesus should have the supreme position. Colossians 1:17-18
