Has truth fallen in the streets as the Bible states would happen? Isaiah 59:14

The Lord Jesus Christ said, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this purpose I have been born, and for this I have come into the world: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice." John 18:37

Do people still question mockingly as Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, Matthew 27:2 said to the Lord,

"What is truth?" John 18:38

Is it possible to error from the truth such as to believe that the resurrection has already occurred when it hasn't? 2 Timothy 2:17-18

The Old Testament prophet Daniel prayed, "Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our wrongdoing and giving attention to Your truth." Daniel 9:13

Is there really a standard of truth that can expose what is NOT truth and correct what is wrong?

Jesus prayed for His original disciples and those who would believe in Him because of their word John 17:9, 20 and asked the Father,

"Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth." John 17:17

Paul wrote to Timothy, You have known the Holy Scriptures ever since you were a little child. They are able to teach you how to be saved by believing in Christ Jesus.

God has breathed life into all Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right. By using Scripture, the servant of God can be completely prepared to do every good thing. 2 Timothy 3:15-17

James wrote, My brothers and sisters, suppose one of you wanders away from the truth. And suppose someone brings that person back. Then here is what I want you to remember. Anyone who keeps a sinner from going astray will save them from death. God will erase many sins by forgiving them. James 5:19-20

For some, to question the truthfulness of the Bible is a hobby.

They speak and write with absolute certainty that what is stated in the Scriptures is NOT true.

From the books of Genesis to the Revelation, they pick words that don't make sense to them and major on those to reject the entire Bible.

Paul wrote, But a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

People have had the writings of Moses and the prophets Luke 16:29-31; 24:25-27, 32, 44-47; Acts 26:22-23; Romans 1:1-2; 15:3-4; 16:25-27; 1 Peter 1:10-11; 2 Peter 1:19-21 for centuries.

Because "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:24-25

These writings pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Chosen One, and the Savior of the world. John 4:25-26, 40-42; 5:39, 45-46; 1 John 4:14

Some, when they saw Jesus, had these reactions --

He [Andrew] first found his own brother Simon [Peter] and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which translated means Christ). John 1:41

Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law, and the prophets also wrote: Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth!" John 1:45

It's one of the reasons that God the Father sent His Son into the world. Matthew 21:37, 42

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, Whom He appointed heir of all things, through Whom He also made the world. Hebrews 1:1-2

Jesus, as the exact representation of the Father, Hebrews 1:3 the fullness of divine life in a body, Colossians 2:9 would be the final revelation from the Father. Revelation 1:5-8

Jesus said, when you saw Him, you saw the Father.

"And the one who sees Me sees Him who sent Me." John 12:45

Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us."

Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own, but the Father, as He remains in Me, does His works." John 14:8-10

When the disciples of Jesus wrote their accounts of what happened Luke 1:1-4; Acts 1:1-4 and the revelations they received from Him on how to live, 1 Corinthians 7:10-11; 11:23-26; 14:37; Ephesians 3:1-5; 1 Thessalonians 4:2, 15-18 they had confidence that what they penned was truth.

John wrote, And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30-31

Paul wrote, But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Galatians 1:11-12

Peter wrote, For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased." And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 2 Peter 1:16-18

Peter wrote, That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior. 2 Peter 3:2

Peter wrote, And consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 2 Peter 3:15-16

John wrote, We are from God. The one who knows God listens to us; the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1 John 4:6

Final thoughts --

People can't come to Jesus to be born of God John 1:12-13 unless the Father first teaches them and draws them to His Son.

Jesus said, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God.' Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me." John 6:44-46

As part of this process, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, John 14:16-17 needs to testify to and glorify Jesus in the minds and spirits of people. John 15:26; 16:14

He convinces them of their need for the Savior. John 16:7-11

Then, they either receive the love of the truth or they don't. 2 Thessalonians 2:10

Paul wrote, The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10

The Father wants every person to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4

He is longsuffering toward us, waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, James 5:7 that is, all to come to the knowledge of His salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. John 8:28; 2 Peter 3:9

But we have a choice, don't we?

Even after our eyes have been opened spiritually, Acts 26:18; Romans 1:19-21 we can choose to still not believe.

And when they had appointed him [Paul] a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. Acts 28:23-24

After some of Jesus' followers had left Him, John 6:60-61, 66 He asked those who remained,

"Will you also go away?" John 6:67

Peter answered, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." John 6:68-69

Suggestion:

Buy the truth, and sell it not; Also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. Proverbs 23:23
