"I'll listen to a celebrity."

99 percent of us are NOT famous as influencers, stars of music, screen, stage, and sports, or even infamous, who have committed or been suspected in some scandal.
Some of us are easily persuaded to try this fad or buy that product if someone in the spotlight says that we should.
That doesn't make us bad, does it?
Maybe we could all be more cautious as we follow the advice, "Buyer beware."
A famous movie actor in an equally-major role in a movie scene is approached by two of a younger generation who ask him of the amazing and glorious past.
"We've heard these stories for years but didn't know if they were true."
The older man replies, "It's real. All of it."
They believe him.
Similarly, in the spiritual realm, if someone we consider to be influential, like a pastor of a large congregation, a megachurch, for example, or a TV evangelist who does NOT have negative publicity following them, says that some belief is true, we may quickly accept it as true.
What might be a better and safer attitude to have?
How about this? -- "Wait a minute. I need to see this in MY Bible. It needs to be the whole counsel of the Lord, correctly interpreted in light of all of the Scriptures."
Consider these Bible verses --
Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore, many of them believed, along with a significant number of prominent Greek women and men. Acts 17:11-12
Therefore, I [Paul] declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Acts 20:26-27
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Celebrities might be right about some things.
Have you come to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is always right and at the proper time we'll understand Him fully? John 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 13:8-12
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My [Jesus] words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35
Your thoughts?
