Not for your own benefit?

Do not offend Jews or Greeks, or the church of God; just as I also please everyone in all things, not seeking my own benefit but the benefit of the many, so that they may be saved. 1 Corinthians 10:32-33
But who is going to look out for number one, which is me, and mine?
To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all. 1 Corinthians 12:7
It is the same with you. Since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, seek to abound in order to strengthen the church. 1 Corinthians 14:12
Paul wrote about Timothy that he had no one like him. This was because all sought their own things, not the things of Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:19-21
Jesus said, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it." Mark 8:35
In movies and TV shows we may hear things like, "You need to realize this important truth: No one else gives a [curse word deleted]. If you want to do something in life, YOU have to make it happen."
For spiritual people, is this true?
Should we lay down our lives for others?
We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16
When we're with others, should we let them be first and we take a secondary or lower place?
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves. Philippians 2:3
Shouldn't getting ahead be a priority?
He [Jesus] must become greater, and I must become less important. John 3:30
Should our attitude be as His?
Humble ourselves under His mighty hand and make ourselves of no reputation so that God the Father can exalt us in due time. Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Peter 5:6
Your thoughts?
