Not worthy?

People who receive a gift, a promotion, a scholarship, or some other blessing, sometimes may feel that they're unworthy.

This may be even though they know that they've worked hard and smart to receive or achieve some good thing.

But the thought may remain that they're NOT worthy.

In the New Testament, a supervising soldier said to Jesus that he wasn't worthy to have Him come to his house. Matthew 8:5-8

At other times, when people interpret something that happens as bad -- no promotion, no scholarship, or some other good that they didn't get, they might say, "Why me? Why didn't I get this?"

Those who DO get a gift, a promotion, a scholarship, or some nice reward in life, may also think, "Why me? Why am I so fortunate? I'm not any better than anyone else. [Very few believe this as most think that they ARE better] Sure, I worked and studied hard but others did, too."

But "Why me?" can still linger in their mind and may influence how they perform or enjoy their reward.

Maybe, some things are UNearned --

And giving joyful thanks to the Father, Who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:12-14

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith; and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:6-9

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
