Then Jesus told them this parable:
"What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?
And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders,
comes home, and calls together his friends and neighbors to tell them,
'Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep!'
In the same way, I tell you that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent." Luke 15:3-7
Jesus is the good shepherd. John 10:11
For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given,
and the government will be upon His shoulders.
And He will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
There are times when we need Him to put us on His shoulders, don't we?
When life's circumstances hit us and we feel lost, we need the great shepherd of the sheep Hebrews 13:20-21 to carry us home where we belong.
When He [Jesus] saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36
We need Him to make us lie down in green pastures and lead us beside quiet waters. Psalm 23:1-2
We need Jesus to be the open door, the open gate, and the open way to be saved. John 10:9; 14:6
We need Him to guide us John 10:3 so that we GO to tell others about the good shepherd Matthew 28:18-20 and RETURN with joy Luke 10:17 to find pasture John 10:9 to feed on His word at His feet. Matthew 4:4; Luke 10:38-42; John 5:24
As we're carried on His shoulders to His place of rest for us, Hebrews 4:9-11 then He may say,
"Up until now, you've worked and been burdened.
Learn from Me. I was humble and gentle.
Be tenderhearted and kind, not rough. Ephesians 4:32
Practice putting others first. Philippians 2:3
Then, take My yoke on your shoulders.
This tool is easy and the burden is light because I'm hooked up with you.
Believe and think about the fact that I am with you, joined to you, always. Matthew 28:20; 1 Corinthians 6:17
In these ways, you'll find rest for your life." Matthew 11:28-30
