Modern science seems to tell us that many foods, drinks, and additives to them are either bad or good for our health.

It CAN be confusing when research reports sometimes tend to be alarming and others are comforting.

And this presumes that people are even paying attention to such science, which most don't.

"No one is gonna tell me what I should and should not eat or drink!"

So, we may tend to fall back on age-old wisdom that says, "Everything in moderation."

In other words, don't go overboard or crazy about diet, exercise, or anything else that's supposed to help us health-wise.

Our topic's title is:

Sin in moderation?

"If you're going to do or say this or that, well, don't do or say too much of it."

The idea seems to be that whatever someone's concept of "sin" is, large amounts of it aren't good for you.

What about spiritual people who might think that the Bible has information on sin and its effects?

Should we engage in sins when we're younger, all types of sin, and get them out of our system, if that's really possible?

Should we abstain from sin at every age, that is, NOT sin at all or at least TRY not to?

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done. Romans 6:23

The Lord Jesus Christ bore our sins in His own body.

He Himself carried our sins in His body on the cross. He did it so that we would die as far as sins are concerned. Then we would lead godly lives. His wounds have healed you. 1 Peter 2:24

People were dead in offenses and sins. Ephesians 2:1

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our wrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). Ephesians 2:4-5

How can you and I get into this "freedom from past sins zone"? Romans 3:21-26; 2 Peter 1:9

But what does it say? The message is near you. It's in your mouth and in your heart. This means the message about faith that we are preaching. Say with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord." Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved. With your heart you believe and are made right with God. With your mouth you say what you believe. And so you are saved. Romans 10:8-10

Jesus' blood will wash us from our sins. Revelation 1:5

But there is more! Now that God has accepted us because Christ sacrificed His life's blood, we will also be kept safe from God's anger. Romans 5:9

But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13

You and I can become new creations in the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:3, 7; 2 Corinthians 5:17

He can continue to change us from one degree of His glory to another. 2 Corinthians 3:18

The Lord does NOT want us to sin, even a little bit in moderation. 2 Peter 2:14

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

This is the message which we have heard from Him [Jesus] and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7

So I [Paul] say, live by the Holy Spirit’s power. Then you will not do what your desires controlled by sin want you to do. Galatians 5:16
