How do we know...
That what we believe and are hopefully following in our lives is genuine?
That it's the true grace of God? 1 Peter 5:12
That we have NOT departed from the faith by listening to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons? 1 Timothy 4:1
That we DO endure sound doctrine and haven't heaped to ourselves teachers to scratch our ears to satisfy our lusts? 2 Timothy 4:3
That we've examined and proven ourselves to know that we're in the faith? 2 Corinthians 13:5
That we've not twisted the Scriptures to make them say what they don't? 2 Peter 3:16
One way is to do the word that we know, not being hearers only. Matthew 7:24-25; James 1:22
Another way is to look into the mirror of the perfect law of liberty James 1:23-25 to see our reflection in that mirror.
What do we see?
Are we real?
Or would Jesus call us actors? This is the meaning of the word He used to describe those with faked faith: hypocrites. Matthew 22:18; 23:13-15, 23, 25
The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5
