Are there good traditions, not so good ones, and even those that are bad?

Jesus answered, “Isaiah was right when he spoke about you hypocrites. He wrote, ‘These people show honor to Me with words, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is worthless. The things they teach are nothing but human rules.’ You have stopped following the commands of God, and you follow only human teachings.” Mark 7:6-8

Are some of our personal religious or spiritual traditions wrong?

What about traditions that govern what goes on in church or other spiritual meetings?

Are they what the Bible says should happen?

Or have we settled for "what has always been done?"

Full well you reject the commandment of God so that you can keep your own tradition. Mark 7:9

Are we as guilty as those Jesus spoke to?

Maybe we should NOT accept false stories and the commands of people who reject the truth. Titus 1:14

Instead, we can be encouraged and encourage others Hebrews 3:13; 10:23-25 with great patience and careful teaching because the time will come when people will not listen to the true teaching but will find many more teachers who please them by saying the things they want to hear. They will stop listening to the truth and will begin to follow false stories. 2 Timothy 4:2-4

Traditions may have been established or continue to be followed because of enticing words of human wisdom. 1 Corinthians 2:4

See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the elementary principles of the world, rather than in accordance with Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form. Colossians 2:8-9

I say this so that no one can fool you by arguments that seem good, but are false. Colossians 2:4

There used to be false prophets among God’s people, just as you will have some false teachers in your group. They will secretly teach things that are wrong—teachings that will cause people to be lost. They will even refuse to accept the Master, Jesus, who bought their freedom. So they will bring quick ruin on themselves. 2 Peter 2:1

You know that in the past you were living in a worthless way, a way passed down from the people who lived before you. But you were saved from that useless life. You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, Who was like a pure and perfect lamb. 1 Peter 1:18-19

Some traditions might be good, right?

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us. 2 Thessalonians 2:15

How can today's spiritual people know what traditions to keep and which to unlearn?

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 17:11
