Weeds can grow where nothing else does

Have you ever tried to grow a plant or a tree?

It's not as easy as it looks because even if it starts to grow, there's an enemy ready to choke it:

WEEDS.

Jesus called them thorns that choke the word of the Lord and can make someone spiritually unfruitful. Mark 4:7

In this sense, what are these thorns or weeds?

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. Mark 4:18-19

Even a small garden can quickly have weeds spring up.

"Where are my plants? I know I put the seeds right here."

Yes, the good seeds are there but the weeds don't require much moisture nor nutrition to grow first.

Can you think of things in the spiritual realm that can get into us and don't need any of our attention but they still grow bad plants?

One of the 3 types of thorns/weeds Jesus mentioned are the "lusts of other things." Mark 4:19

These are desires for things other than the word of the Lord, which is seed. Luke 8:11

Maybe we need divine help Hebrews 4:16 to know when to turn something off, look away, or stop reading so that the seeds of weeds don't get planted in us. James 1:14-15

Can we desire to have honest and good hearts?

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:15

Your thoughts?
