What am I still lacking?

And someone came to Him [Jesus] and said, "Teacher, what good thing shall I do so that I may obtain eternal life?" Matthew 19:16

If we have types of possessions, does this make us righteous?

If we've accomplished something important, does this make us righteous?

If we've followed specific paths, does this make us righteous?

...if you want to enter life, keep the commandments." Then he said to Him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony; Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 19:17-19

If we value others, does this make us righteous?

If we have a position of power, does this make us righteous?

If we've NOT done certain actions, does this make us righteous?

If we've done plenty of good deeds, does this make us righteous?

If we do NOT have bad attitudes like being proud, does this make us righteous?

Will we inherit eternal life because of our lifestyles?

In other words, what do WE lack?

What can we DO to make sure we inherit eternal life?

Therefore they said to Him, "What are we to do, so that we may accomplish the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." John 6:28-29

If we suspect or know that we lack what it would take for us to have eternal life, consider some other words that may comfort us --

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son [Jesus], so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16

Truly, truly, I [Jesus] say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. John 5:24

For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 1 John 5:11 13

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

Can we take these words and their simple truths, believe them, and have eternal life?

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you'll be saved. Acts 16:31
