This assumes that there's a heaven.
This also assumes that you'll go there some day.
Who would you want to see FIRST?
Who would round out your Top 10?
HEAVEN LOOKS SWEETER
I think of heaven now and then.
I try to imagine how amazing it is, beyond the descriptions that the Bible gives.
How can God the Father satisfy each person forever? Psalm 145:16
I think of outdoor wild cats and strays I've fed and watered as being in heaven with me; along with our indoor, domesticated cats.
The Lord gives us the ability to talk with each other and the outdoor ones also want me to pet and hold them.
"Thank you for saving my life with food."
"It was my pleasure. I enjoyed seeing you eat and drink."
"And since this one was a stray (the one we called, 'Grey'), you talked to me many times when I brought you food, right?"
"Yes, it was my way to thank you for your kindness."
Our indoor cats might say,
"Our happiest moments were when we three were together with each other and you, our cat parents!"
I guess pet owners have such fantasies.
BETTER THAN WE THINK
Yet, the Bible says that no eye has seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of anyone, what the Lord has prepared for those who love Him. Isaiah 64:4; 1 Corinthians 2:9
The New Testament citing of this Scripture concludes the thought that God has revealed [not necessarily all those things] but has made known to us by His Spirit.
But God has revealed it [or them] to us by the Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10
Some word-for-word Bible translations will have the word, "them" in italics to show that this word wasn't in most ancient texts they used to translate.
So, we can know that God has revealed to us by His Spirit, but not YET everything.
Shouldn't the Lord have some things that are His secrets?
The secret things belong to the Lord our God. Deuteronomy 29:29
Then, in the ages to come He CAN SHOW His great kindness to us through the Lord Jesus Christ.
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,
not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:6-8
We could conclude that even our wildest imaginations of beauty, joy, happiness, fulfillment, and godly pleasure still won't match what our Heavenly Father has prepared for His adopted children through the Lord Jesus Christ and our relationship with Them. Romans 3:21-24; 8:18-21; Ephesians 1:3-8; 1 John 1:3
KNOW AND BELIEVE
In the New Testament age that we're living in now, Luke 22:20; Acts 2:16-17; 1 Corinthians 10:11; Hebrews 1:1-2; 12:24 the Father wants us to know some things. Matthew 11:27; Mark 4:10-12; John 17:6
We [believers] have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit Who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:12
Jesus said,
"Everything that belongs to the Father is Mine." John 16:15
And then He said,
"That is why I said John 16:14 that the Spirit will take from what is Mine and disclose it to you." John 16:15
If believers are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, 1 Peter 2:9 and a kingdom and priests (or kings and priests as some Bibles have it), Revelation 1:6
it's up to us to work with the Lord to search out and use NOW what He has given. Deuteronomy 29:29; Proverbs 25:2
Still, the wonders of forever surely must be higher than our thoughts. Isaiah 55:6-9
Can believers accept Scriptures that discuss their futures because of their current, spiritual position?
Their lives are hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3
They've been born again. John 1:12-13; 3:3-7; 1 Peter 1:23
They obey the captain of their salvation, Jesus. John 14:15; Hebrews 2:10; 5:9
They follow holiness. Matthew 5:8; Hebrews 12:14; 2 Peter 3:11
To be absent from their physical body means they're present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:1-8; Philippians 1:21-23
Paul wrote,
But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! 2 Corinthians 9:15
Jesus might have said it best.
"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.
Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:19-20
