In our lives, don't we tend to get into patterns?

Thoughts, words, and actions flow on repeatable paths.

If we're not careful, we can be writing our own holy books.

These are the books we're following because our lifestyles show that we're devoted to our behaviors.

These might be unrighteous, unethical, or even criminal.

In reality, we're not obeying any specific holy books other than ones we've created.

Our holy books don't have "chapter and verse" that we quote.

But we're certainly obeying these doctrines by how we live.

Suggestion:

Instead of disobeying many words from the real holy book our religion or spirituality follows, choose words from that holy book that you CAN obey.

Usually, these are those you find encouraging and easy to swallow.

Put your energy into making these uplifting words part of you.

Other doctrines that you have trouble obeying, pick a couple and work on also putting them into practice.

In this way, the edifying words that you enjoy can be part of your own holy book.

The tough commands, your 2 that you start with, can be easier to take after you've been raised by the other words.

Both kinds are in your holy book, which is small for now.

You and I CAN grow spiritually, one day and step at a time.

The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Our faces, then, are not covered. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like Him. This change in us brings ever greater glory, which comes from the Lord, Who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31-32

Your thoughts?
